The invasion of poland.
On September 1st, 1939, the German Army invaded Poland. Within two days, Britian and France declaired war on Germany, and Europe was once again engulfed in war. Would Canada step to Britian's side in the coming conflict? The answer was delayed but never in doubt. On September 10th, 1939, Canada interrupted all the airwaves on the radio for a special announcement: Canada has declaired war on Germany!
There was no wild enthusiasm that had swept Canadians into the streets like in World War I. This time Candians stayed at home and braced for the battles soon to come. It was the second time in 20 years that Canadians had to go overseas for a war. But Canada is lucky because they are not alone. 19 other countries joined forces against Germany:
Soviet Union (1941–45)
United States (1941–45)
United Kingdom
China (1937–45)
France
Poland
Canada
Australia
Yugoslavia (1941–45)
Greece (1940–45)
Belgium (1940–45)
Netherlands (1940–45)
New Zealand
Norway (1940–45)
South Africa
Brazil (1942–45)
Mexico (1942–45)
Czechoslovakia
Mongolia (1945)
